On May 22nd the limits of the dual-layer Blu-ray disc will be maxed out. That is the day when Pirates of the Caribbean – Dead Man’s Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean – Curse of the Black Pearl will both be released by Disney Pictures. Both movies will take up 75gb of space. This will mean a 2 disc set, a dual-layer disc will be maxed out at 50gb capacity and the other a single layer containing 25gb. This is due to full 1080p video and uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround sound.
Exclusive to the Blu-ray discs will be interactive Java features. On Dead Man’s Chest, “Liar’s Dice” will be included. It is a single player game shot in HD-video. And on Curse of the Black Pearl, “Scoundrels of the Sea”, an info-movie that will present interesting facts and trivia about legendary pirates, will be included. Seems someone if finally taking advantage of blu-ray but as it was supposed to be, it’s for movies.
