Hitman Movie Hits Theatres October 2007

Edit: I don’t know why I thought Diesel would be playing the role. Movies Online had written that Diesel would take the role and they had corrected it as well. Timothy Olyphant will be playing Agent 47, and Diesel is Executive Producer. Thanks for the heads up Laurance.

After what seemed like ages of talks and negotiations, Hitman has found its actor and release date. Timothy Olyphant will play the enigmatic agent 47, and the release date has been set for October 12th, 2007.

Movies Online writes:

The actor [Vin Diesel] will also serve as executive producer. Charles Gordon and Adrian Askarieh are producing through their respective companies, Daybreak Prods. and Prime Universe Prods. and Daniel Alter will co-produce. Paul Baldwin, who served as the point man on the deal for Eidos, will be involved in a producing capacity. Hutch Parker, 20th Century Fox president, and senior vp Alex Young will oversee the project for Fox.

This sounds absolutley fantastic. This project seemed to be going nowhere as it was bogged down by casting complications among other things. There was practically no news at all on the beloved game franchise from Eidos Interactive for months. Now everything has come full circle and I couldn’t be more excited. Contrary to the rumors that Diesel would be abandoning the project, he is in fact the executive producer. No word on who is directing, and I’ll avoid any joke about “OMG I hope Uwe Boll doesn’t direct. Oops. Too late. This sounds promising to say the least.
