New Light on The Darkness

If you head over to Gamespot, you will see they have an article about their hands-on experience with the upcoming 360 FPS kickass title, The Darkness.

“As the follow-up to the critically acclaimed Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, The Darkness is an important release for Swedish outfit Starbreeze Studios. Adapted from a Top Cow comic book with a brand-new storyline from writer Paul Jenkins, the game ambitiously mixes first-person shooting with superhuman abilities in the form of a young Mafioso. Jackie Estacado is a don in New York’s Franchetti family mob, and on his 21st birthday, he’s taken over by a mysterious force called “the darkness.” This is where the game begins, and as Jackie, you must harness your increasing supernatural power while also struggling to control it. ”

So far, the game looks amazing and its bound to be a treat for the comic fans, even if the story is loosely based on the original. What has me most intrigued about it, besides from the jaw-dropping visuals, is that the combat with the guns will be influenced by the Gun-Kata style in the Equilibrium movie (awesome flick if you have yet to check it out). Now, the gun-kata in the movie looked freakin sweet, but to see all that action in First Person view is a jarring concept indeed, and I really can’t wait to see how it works out. The Darkness is scheduled for a release in May 1, 2007.
