Wanted Creator Speaks

 by Laurance

Wanted is one book that has been on my must read list for a while and i will remedy that when i make my annual trip to Wizard World Chicago this year. With comic book to film adaptations being the “super” trend these days, it will be refreshing to have a story that is a little more nontraditional to grace the silver screen. If you don’t know what Wanted is all about here is the lowdown, but keep in my these details contain what some consider spoilers. you’ve been warned:

“What if everything in your life was out of your hands and those around you propelled your fate? Your girlfriend left you for your best friend; your boss gave your job to someone better. What if then, after all this, someone gave you back total control? What if he revealed you were the next in line to join a secret society of super-villains that controlled the entire planet? Mark Millar and J.G. Jones provide a look at one man who goes from being the world’s biggest loser to the deadliest assassin alive. ” [amazon.com]

The folks over at superherohype.com had this little bit to share about Wanted creator Mark Millar’s thoughts on what they refer to as a “3o-min pre-vis for the film.” Here is what Millar had to say:

This is going to be amazing. Like I trailered yesterday, even Gill’s Mum gave a big Keannu-style WHOA at a sequence between a car chase and a train. I can’t give much in the way of details here, but watching some of the scenes from the book come to life can only be compared to giving birth to a 100 million dollar baby. The opening sequence with The Killer plus boyfriends chasing his would-be assassins across the rooftops is just jaw-dropping. I was honestly pinching myself, worried I was bi-polar and this whole thing was just a wishful hallucination.

March 08 cannot get here fast enough. McAvoy, Freeman and the big star they aren’t telling you about until Summer plus an action director THIS GOOD really is going to be something special. Three months ago my expectations were zero. Now they’re enormous.

Wanted is set for a 2oo8 release and will be starring James McAvoy and the almighty Morgan Freeman. I’m not a betting man, but i have a feeling that our man Jon will like Wanted a little more than he did Ghost Rider.
