The Mistwalker-developed Xbox 360 RPG Blue Dragon has proved popular enough to warrant its own animated TV series in Japan.

Key Mistwalker figures will be involved in the show’s development. Hironobu Sakaguchi, founder of Mistwalker and creator of Final Fantasy, Akira Toriyama, character designer and Nobou Uematsu, composer will be involved in some shape or form.

The show will begin April 7 and will air every Saturday at 9 a.m. on Television Tokyo.

Although the Xbox 360 has seen poor sales in Japan, Blue Dragon was a standout title for the system when it launched last December. The game has sold around 170,000 copies so far and represents the best-selling Xbox 360 game in Japan.

The manga “Blue Dragon Ral Grado” has already started in the popular Weekly Jump magazine and the creator of ”Death Note” is in charge of the job. As a consequence, the manga offers a very different visual and background than the game.
